Note to Administrators. I felt this was the best place to post this. If it'll fit elsewhere better please move it.

I thought I'd post a little tip for those of you who are new to magic or have never been to a magicians gathering before (Such as the Abbott's get together in Colon MI).

I remember my first time going to the get together. I'd see so many magicians that where so much more advanced then I was. Especially when you see the "Big name" magicians that could even end up sitting right next to you at  table. I was so intimidated that I wouldn't perform for anyone. I just stood around and watched. I wouldn't even perform when people asked me to.

I think it was my second or third get together that I finally got the guts to perform for people there and guess what. I discovered that there was nothing to be scared of at all. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Even when they could see how nervous I was (I think my shaking hands was a give away).

From that time on I made so many friends and learned so many things from other magicians there. If I did something poorly they never laughed at me. Instead they helped me so I could fix my mistake. I've made many friends there and every year I make more.

So if you go to the Abbott's get together in Colon MI, or any magic gathering for that matter. Don't be afraid to perform for the magicians. If you see me I'd very much enjoy it if you would show me a trick or two. It doesn't matter if we know how it's done. Most of the magicians there will but that's not what we will judge you on. We'll judge you on your willingness to perform and the guts it takes to do it. For we where all new to magic at some point and know how it feels. I guarantee you'll get a round or applaud and if you want it you'll get help if you need it. We're there to have a good time, meet people and see magic just like you are.

So don't make the same mistake I did and wait so long to find out that we'd love to see you perform and to get a change to meet you.
